Robert Meray, Class of 2002
Meray held the varsity spot at 152 for our first two seasons, and qualified for the State Tournament by placing 4th at Regionals. He placed third at the SPSL Tournament. At State, Robert lost his first match, won his next and came very close to placing when he had a great third match, losing in the third round. As a junior, Meray was an alternate to the Regional Tournament placing sixth in league. “I’m proud that I got to be a part of Jag Wrestling. I accomplished things I thought I could never do.”
Meray’s matches are always exciting to watch, and he seems to have a knack for close matches that come down to the last minute. Meray won our first double-overtime match our first year during our first home dual meet.
Robert also participated in baseball, soccer and bowling, and played football last season.
Bates Technical College will be the next stop for Robert as he pursues his goal of becoming a firefighter. |
