Cody Meek , Class of 2002
Cody worked very hard to become a sound wrestler in his senior season. Meek states, “I am proud of becoming a better person, wrestler and leader.” His improvement from his junior year to his senior year can be attributed to his work on and off the mat, his desire to become better, and a positive attitude about his effort. He earned the Most Improved Wrestler award in his senior year, where he went from winning just three varsity matches in his junior season to the state alternate and 24 wins in his senior year. Cody placed third at the SPSL South Tournament and was fifth at the Regional Tournament.
In his two years as a Jag Wrestler, Meek is one of two athletes who have never missed nor sat out during a practice. His teammates have recognized his efforts and voted him as a team captain. In 2002 Cody set team records for most matches in a season with 37, most wins by decision (14), and was third in takedowns and second in reversals.
He also participated in football, bowling and in the past has been active in baseball, four square, volleyball and soccer.
Meek attends Pierce College and has been an assistant coach for the Jaguars for the past two seasons. |
