Trey Hamrick , Class of 2002
Trey blossomed as a senior claiming the 145 pound varsity spot. Injuries and illness limited his performances during his senior seasn, but when he steps on the mat he is ready for the challenge. Along with another teammate, he came from the pigtail position at the Cardinal Classic to win the tournament, beating the number one seed in overtime. He was named wrestler of the week in December 2001.
The thing that he will remember most will be the Rogers vs. Emerald Ridge dual meet, as well as the turn around that the Jag Wrestlers made from our first year to his senior season. An interesting note is that Trey’s father Scott wrestled for Coach Meyerhoff’s father at Franklin Pierce HS.
Trey joined the army after graduation and shipped out to Fort Knox, KY for boot camp. He will soon go to Germany for two years during his service. He plans to go to college and eventually become a firefighter or paramedic - being rich and getting married are also priorities. Trey would like to coach wrestling in the future as well. |
