Girls are Region II Co-Champs
Mitch Steed (junior) won the Region 2 championship at 189 pounds in a great overtime match to adance to the state tournament. <watch the title match on youtube> Two sophomores also advanced to state at 160 pounds as Colten Williams placed second and James Souza was third. The girl's team had a very successful day as eight placed in the top-six to advance to state. The girl's also tied with the ladies from Rogers for the Region 2 team title. Kaylee Carr was a runner-up, Dee Fegurgur was third, Dallas Welker and Emily Bond each finished fourth. Kathryn Snyder, Jazz Magraff and Ashana Armstrong were fifth while Meghan Kajca was sixth. Emerald Ridge and Rogers tie for the Girl's Region 2 Title
Steed and Welker Sub-Region Champs
Five boys wrestlers advanced to the Region 2 Tournament by placing in the top-four at last Saturdays sub-regional. Mitch Steed won his first league title wrestling at 189 pounds. Colten Williams was runner-up and James Souza finished third, both at 160 pounds. John Morrison (119) and Joe McDaniel (215) placed fourth to move on to next weekend.
The Girls team finished second in the sub-regional and Dallas Welker won her second League Title. Second place finishers were Kathryn Snyder, Dee Fegurgur, Kaylee Carr, Jazz Magraff and Ashana Armstrong. Other girls advancing to this weekend's regional held at ER are Megan Kajca, Breana Yardis, Brianne Wolfe, Sabrina Collins, and Emily Bond.
The boys wrap up the regular season with three duals this week against Rogers, Puyallup and Graham-Kapowsin. The Girls wrestle at Rogers on Friday.
The girls team won their first-ever invitational tournament championship at the Hoquiam Alumni Invitational. Dee Fegurgur and Kaylee Carr each won their weight classes. More results
