Two Jags Participate at Fargo Nationals

Junior Gabe Weber and Senior Daniel Kuhn represented Team Washington at the Asics Tiger Junior Nationals in Fargo, ND. Weber qualified by placing 1st in state in Greco and 2nd in state in Freestyle. Kuhn placed 4th in state in Freestyle. This prestigious national tournament was held July 22-29. Neither placed at nationals, but they won some matches and earned some valuable experience.

Wills in China June 19-29

Kevin Wills visited China as part of the Washington State Cultural Exchange. Follow his trip on the team blog updated by the coaches.

Jaguar Wrestling Kids Camp, June 22-24

Emerald Ridge hosted its first Kids Wrestling Camp in late June for boys and girls in elementary school to those entering ninth grade. Look for more info next spring on the 2007 camp.

Fredrikson places 2nd at Veterans Nationals

April 13 - Jaguar wrestling coach Craig Fredrikson competed in the United States Veterans's National Tournament held in Las Vegas on April 13, 2006. Fredrikson placed 2nd in the A division at 187 pounds. Photos

Weber selected to Local All-Star Team

April 8 - Sophomore Gabe Weber has been selected as one of the 22 wrestlers in region 3 to compete in the 2006 Washington Freestyle All-Star Duals. For more information, check out the website.

Athletes Honored at Award Banquet

March 14 - The Jaguar Wrestlers were honored for their work at the 2006 Awards Banquet. 49 athletes received awards for the completion of their seasons, along with team, academic and state tournament awards.

Four Jags Claim State Medals

Senior Keith Schlecht capped an outstanding career with a third place finish at 160 pounds in the state tournament. Justin Timothy (senior) peaked at the end of the season and won a sixth place medal at 125 pounds. Senior Nick Webster (112 pounds) and junior Kevin Wills (140) each placed eighth. Seniors TJ Smith (215) and Jordon Smith (171) just missed placing in the top-8 while sophomore Gabe Weber (130) and junior Jade Anderson (135) both wrestled well in their two matches. Nelson Honored as Academic Champ

Senior Geoff Neslon was honored by the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association as the 4A 140 pound Academic State Champion. With a GPA of 3.97, Nelson had the highest GPA of all 140 pounders in the 4A division.

Jaguars Advance 8 to State

Nine wrestlers competed in the Region 2 Tournament, and eight advanced to state with the ninth placing as an alternate. Nick Webster became our fifth regional champion as he won the 112 pound weight class. Runners-up included Justin Timothy (125), Gabe Weber (130) and Kevin Wills (140). Three Jaguars placed third; Jade Anderson (135), Keith Schlecht (160) and TJ Smith (215). Jordon Smith (171) was fourth and John Gallager (152) was fifth.

Jaguars Capture Division Tourney Title

After day one, the three Puyallup SD schools were seperated by only 2.5 points. Emerald Ridge pulled away from the pack to win their first Division Tournament Championship with a team record 275.5 points. Rogers was second with 239.5 and Puyallup was third with 220.5.

Keith Schlecht became our first two-time league champion as he defended his 160 pound title. Nick Webster (112), Gabe Weber (130) and Kevin Wills (140) each captured their first titles. Justin Timothy (125) and Jordon Smith (171) finished in second place. TJ Smith (215) finished third and Jade Anderson (135), John Gallagher (152) and Kevin Wicklund (160) were fourth. ER will have 3 alternates as Brandon Weeks (145), Ryan Kusche (171) and Brandon Martin (189) finished fifth in their weight classes.

Next up is the Regional Tournament with the Kingco League. The tournament will be held at Inglemoor HS. Tournament info can be found at www.Region2Wrestling.com.

Back-to-Back SPSL South Champions

With two wins this week to finish the dual portion of our season, the Jaguar Wrestlers repeated as SPSL South Division Champions. Wednesday the Jags defeated Graham-Kapowsin 58-18, then defeated Bethel 37-22 in the season finale. Over the past two seasons the Jaguars are 19-0 in league and 24-1 overall in dual meets.

The JV Jags will compete in the South Division JV Qualifier and the North-South JV Tournament at Jefferson this weekend. Then on to the post-season as ER will host the South Division League Tournament on February 3-4.
