SPSL South League Tournament

4th place team finish

Seven Jag wrestlers advanced to the Regional Tournament at Decatur HS next weekend. Five wrestlers placed third and two placed fourth. Four others were fifth and will be alternates. As a team we finished in fourth place, our highest team finish at the league tournament.

3rd Place: Brant Ernst, 112; Kelly Thompson, 152; Garrod Forbes, 160; Louis Bernardo, 171; Garin Heslop, 189.
4th Place: Fernando Rodriguez, 119; Sean Forbes, 130.
5th Place: Phillip Baum, 103; Tomas Armenta, 135; Daniel Smith, 145; Calvin Lovering, 215.
6th Place: Jason Boyd, 140; Robbie Schlecht, 152.

Feb 15 Regional Tournament

Seven Jag wrestlers entered the Regional Tournament and three advanced to Mat Classic XV next weekend. As a team we finished 10th out of the 20 teams. Louis Bernardo became our first Regional Champion when he won the 171 pound weight class. Sean Forbes was the runner-up at 130 and Garrod Forbes finished 4th at 160. Kelly Thompson and Garin Heslop wrestled well to finish in 6th place in their weight classes.

Feb 21-22 State Tournament - Mat Classic XV

Three Jaguar wrestlers particiapted in the state tournament, and each won at least one match. Louis Bernardo became our second state placer as he finished 6th at 171 pounds. Bernardo won his first match, then lost to the eventual state champ in the second round. In the final match on Friday, Bernardo won his match to become a placer. Sean Forbes and Garrod Forbes both won a match by pin and lost two matches on the first day to finish in a tie for ninth place. Both had close matches in their final match and just missed wrestling on Saturday. The three wrestlers scored fourteen team points, the same as our score last year.
