For the second straight year the Jaguars wrestled in the finals, but ran into a tough Tahoma squad in the championship match. Tahoma won the twelve-team tournament with a 46-24 dual meet score. Along the way ER defeated Tacoma Baptist 51-15 and Auburn 45-33 in pool matches. In the semi-finals the Jags defeated Puyallup 34-32. Garin Heslop wrestled his first matches of the year and scored four first round pins. Calvin Lovering, Brant Ernst, Nick Slead, James Mayhak, Mark Ernst, Justin Skavlem, and Rick Roennau each won three of their four matches.

In an exciting high school match, Emerald Ridge came from behind in the final 6 matches to win the SPSL dual meet 32-31 in the final match. The match started with the 119 pound weight class and the Jags fell behind 25-6 after the 160 pound weight class. ER then won 5 of the last 6 with 3 pins and two major decisions for the one point victory. Louis Bernardo won by major decision and Garin Heslop pinned his opponent to narrow the gap to 25-16. Following a Sentinel pin at 215, it was a 15 point spread with 3 matches to go. Josh Howard won his match by pin at heavyweight, Phillip Baum won at 103 with a major decision to make the difference 5 points going into the last match. Brant Ernst finished the dual at 112 with a pin in the first round to give the Jags the victory 32-31. Sean Forbes and Robbie Schlecht also won their matches by decisions.
