ER 37 - Spanaway Lake 33

Varsity Dual record: 8-5, 6-2 in league for 2nd place finish.

Senior Night

In the final dual meet of the season for both teams, the Jags defeated the 2001 state champs by a score of 37-33. Spanaway Lake lost many wrestlers to graduation last year, but has a talented young team which will make some noise in the next few years. The win secured a tie for second place in the SPSL South and a 6-2 dual meet league record (a big improvement from 1-7 last year).

Kendall Eisenbacher started things off with a pin at 275 pounds, and following a forfeit the Jag Wrestlers jumped out to an 18-6 lead with pins from Brian Nieblas and Ryan Halbert. Spanaway Lake won the next three matches, including an exciting 10-9 match between Mickey Elliott (SL - 3rd in state 2001) and Sean Forbes. Daniel Smith got the Jags on track as they won four of the next five to secure the win. Pins from Slavik Goras and Cody Meek rounded out the Jag scoring.

In the JV match The Jags won six of the ten head-to-head matches, including pins by Tao Le, Jon Gillie and a Technical Fall from Robbie Schlecht.
