Our first ever victory of cross-town rival Puyallup High School evened our league record at 1-1. The Jags started quickly, winning 5 of the first seven matches by fall or forfeit, pushing us out to a 30-9 lead half-way through the match. The two teams split the next six decisions, with the final score 42-27. In the JV matchups, the Jags won 5 of the ten matches, 4 of those by falls.

Cardinal Classic Tournament @ Franklin Pierce

In our best outing of the season, the Jags placed third at the Cardinal Classic - and may have competed for the championship with our full varsity line-up. Six wrestlers made it to the finals, with three winning their weight classes. Peninsula won the tournament, and Franklin Pierce secured second place ahead of us with a win at 275 pounds in the finals. In the first round, we went 11-2, including two pigtail wins! Both of those pigtail winners (Trey Hamrick and Slavik Goras) went on to beat the number one seed in their next match, and eventually placed first in the tournament. In his match against the number one seed, Hamrick tied the match with 10 seconds to go, then won it with a takedown in overtime. Only 11 wrestlers competed in the tournament, with 8 of those placing in the top four, and another who defaulted to sixth with an injury in the semi finals. Overall a good performance for the Jags.
