A night of firsts for the Jag Wrestlers in our first ever competition. Wrestling the Bears of Olympia High School in a Jamboree format, the Jag varsity wrestlers were 6-4 in head-to-head match-ups. Brandon Fishel was the first Jag to step on a mat in competition and score a point. James Castleton provided the first victory with a 10-0 decision at 130. Mark Bentley followed that up with the first pin at 135 pounds. Other varsity victories included Jacob Haulman (pin), Slavik Goras (pin), Louis Bernardo (6-0), and Garin Heslop (first round pin). Final score in the jamboree format was ER 37 - Olympia 22.
On the Junior Varsity level, the Jag Wrestlers were 10-3 against the bears. Brandon Olson started things off with a first round pin of his opponent, and would follow that up with a second pin later in the match. Other victories came from Mark Ernst (4-1), Jason Nieblas (pin), Robert Meray (7-0), Kelly Thompson (10-0), Trey Hamrick (10-1), Tao Le (pin), David Kuhn (8-4) and Kevin Mayfield (9-0). |
| November 29 @ Puyallup Jamboree vs Puyallup HS |
In the late evening match (really late...) the Jags competed well against SPSL rival Puyallup HS, losing the varsity dual match 35-18. The match was highlighted by Louis Bernardo's overtime win at 160. Also winning their matches were James Castleton (6-0), Dan Smith (pin), Slavik Goras (7-0) and Kendall Eisenbacher (2-1).
There were only five JV matches against Puyallup, and the Jags won four of those. Brandon Olson earned his third pin of the night and Tao Le his second. Kelly Thompson won his match 8-6 in overtime and Robert Meray won by a major decision 8-0. |

The varsity team got off to a strong start against the Warriors, winning the first five matches, four by pin. In the end, Garin Heslop's pin at 189 guaranteed at least a tie, which was the final result at 36-36. Other pins by Brandon Fishel, Ryan Halbert, James Castleton and Mark Bentley.

The triple dual ended with our first dual victory over the Lions of Bellarmine Prep, 43-32. Eisenbacher's pin at 275 pounds sealed the match for the Jags. Castleton secured his third pin of the day, along with Brandon Fishel (two pins) and Mark Ernst. Jason Nieblas and Slavik Goras also won their matches.
